Election time

During this difficult time the WBA Board met 10-06-2020 (via Zoom) to continue operations and work toward a viable 2020-2021 winter season and future summer and winter seasons. We are not in a position to say what the coming winter will bring. Our great friend, Mike Power of the Stevens Pass Nordic Center Director retired after 47 years this September. Vail has not named a successor and has not provided information about Nordic Center operations for the coming season. Other venues are being explored. New information from the Governor's office indicates that biathlon events can take place this winter. We will keep you posted via the website and other means of communication and try and formulate a schedule as soon as possible.

In keeping with the WBA by-laws, as best we can in these times, the Board meeting 10-06-20 effectively opened the nomination period for the following positions.

Vice President
Secretary
Board Position 2
Board Position 4
Athlete Representative

The nomination period will last until 11-06-2020 at 6:30 pm. As a reminder the basic nomination process is:

A candidate for a position of the board of Directors must be nominated and seconded by an association member who is eligible to vote. A candidate may nominate him/herself, but cannot second, him/herself. Nominations may be made in advance to any board member during the nomination period. All nominees are encouraged to provide a brief (100 words) summary of their qualifications. Copies of each submitted summary will be provided to the membership with the e-mailed ballots and will be posted on the Association's web page.

All of these positions require commitment and dedication to keeping the WBA going and supported. After the nomination period ends Election Administrator Ian Gunter will contact members with a voting ballot and comment sheet. Votes must be in two days before the Annual Membership Meeting. The meeting is now set for November 17th at 7:00 pm. The meeting will be held on-line via Zoom with WBA Treasurer Bryn Black the coordinator.

Please stay safe and health,

Bob Vallor
President
